Juárez Short-term Missions Trip
|
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
All year long the missionaries of our denomination labor on the US/Mexico border to plant
churches and transform lives by sharing the love of Christ with needy people. An integral
part of this missionary work is inviting church teams to roll up their sleeves and spend a
week of their summer constructing church buildings, public schools, local parks, conducting
English camps or vacation Bible school, doing evangelism, and other ministries.
These various ministries help communicate the love of Christ to the communities where our
missionaries serve. The people of Juárez notice that Christians are sharing with them in
their needs. This helps our missionaries share the good news of Jesus with these people,
and edify the church in Juárez.
But the community of Juárez and the missionaries are not the only ones who benefit from
short-term missions. In fact, more often the greater benefit goes to the short-term
missionary. To enter into a culture and lifestyle unlike your own can be a very eye-opening
experience, to help you discern what is of most importance in your life. To share your time
and hard work with needy people is a great opportunity to grow in loving people as Christ
loves you.
So I ask you to consider the challenge and opportunity to give a week of your summer to
serve Christ in Juarez. It will be a fun and memorable time of growth.
In Christ,
